If you are interested in soaking up the atmosphere by the forge fire for yourself and creating your very own hand forged master piece, then look no further!
Come and hear the anvil's ring and the roar of the fire as you take instruction from master blacksmith Doug Campbell. During your day, you will be introduced to the H&S aspects that you need to be aware of within the forge, the personal protective clothing you should use and the protocol should anything happen.
After that, you are straight into your forge day! We like to get you into the swing of things quickly so that you can get the most out of your day. Depending on what course or session you have booked into, will dictate what you will be doing during your short course or experience day.

At Caimbeul's Forge, we do our best to cater for everyone, however please be aware, due to the nature of the site and the age of the building, we are not very wheelchair friendly. The youngest that we will take for forge sessions is 14 years of age, so long as they are accompanied by a paying adult on a course. If the student is 16 years of age, then we are more than happy for an appropriate adult over 18 years old like a parent, carer or guardian to accompany the student. However, please be aware that although we will do our best to make you feel comfortable, our focus will be solely on the student.
Although the stereotype of the blacksmith is that of a big burly bearded man, don't let that put you off!! Some of the top blacksmiths in the country are women and the craft is open to any and all aspiring people. So please do come and try your hand, you never know you may just be a real natural with a hammer and anvil if you don't give it a go, you will never know!

We do a number of different styles of course or experience day, from the basic techniques course that are best suited to those who have never been in the forge before and or may have very little experience with using tools as an introduction to the craft. For the more experienced, we have more intensive courses. For those who have done a couple of courses elsewhere and are more confident and want to start looking at building up your basic tools kit, we can do that too.
